PT Astra Honda Motor - AHM is the largest motorcycle manufacturer in Indonesia and is a multinational joint venture between Japan's Honda Motor Co. and Indonesia's PT Astra International Tbk (Astra Group). Honda Motor Co owns a 50 percent stake in AHM with the remainder of the shares belonging to Astra Group. AHM was first established in 1971 as PT Federal Motor. PT Astra Honda Motor was formed in 2001 as a merger results between PT Federal Motor and its subsidiaries. AHM now has 3 Honda production lines with installed production capacity of 4.2 million units per year. In May 2014, AHM initiated construction of its 4th Honda Production lines in Karawang West Java with total installed production capacity of 1.1 million units annually and will be fully completed in mid-2014. In 2013, AHM succeeded in posting overall improvement in its performance. AHM was able to sold 4.7 million units of Honda motorcycle in 2013 (increased 15% from previous year), with market share of 61% of total national motorcycle sales reached 7.7 million units.
