Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Republik Indonesia - Kemdikbud is the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic Indonesia. The Ministry was previously known as Kementerian Pendidikan Nasional (Kemdiknas) or the Ministry of National Education. The Ministry is a ministry in the Indonesian government in charge of education and cultural affairs. At the beginning of the independence of Indonesia (1945-1950), the Ministry called as Kementerian Pengajaran. Ki Hajar Dewantoro was appointed as the first Indonesian teaching minister. The name of Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Republik Indonesia was launched in October 2011.
Kemdikbud is based in Jakarta and its head office is regietered at Jl Jend Sudirman Senayan Jakarta 10270. Since 2009, the Ministry of Education and Culture is headed by Mohammad Nuh as the Minister of Education and Culture (Mendikbud), replacing Bambang Sudibyo. The Minister is assisted by two deputy ministers, namely Musliar Kasim as a deputy minister in Education and Wiendu Nuryanti as a deputy minister in Culture.
